With just days to go until the Big Design Challenge, produced by Sky Arts in partnership with Lexus, launches (Monday 14 February), a short film has been released giving a sneak preview of what’s in store – click here to view.
The show, presented by DJ, author and presenter Lauren Laverne, and judged by artist and designer Morag Myerscough, and industrial designer Tej Chauhan explores what it takes to make great design – as Chauhan says, what ‘gives me goose bumps.’ Eight contestants will use their problem-solving abilities, creative flair and team-working skills on weekly challenges set by guest judges, including creating a new national reading chair for public libraries and re-inventing the clock. The winner will have their work displayed at the prestigious Victoria and Albert museum.
The show features Lexus RX and RX L self-charging hybrid electric SUVs transporting the show’s design contestants and judges to the challenges across London. It will air on Sky Arts, Freeview Channel 11, and streaming service NOW at 8pm every Monday, for five weeks from 14 February.
Brokered by Sky Media and m/SIX (The&Partnership’s media agency), the AFP marks the next big moment in Lexus’ exclusive 18-month channel sponsorship on Sky Arts, which was announced back in 2021. Read more about the partnership here and the AFP here.
